I BET Awards 2021 ieri notte sono stati teatro di molte sorprese. Dalla rapper e attrice Queen Latifah, incoronata di un importantissimo premio alla carriera, per arrivare a H.E.R., premiata come migliore artista R&B / Pop dell’anno, lo spettacolo non è certamente mancato.
I BET Awards sono le premiazioni istituite dal network Black Entertainment Television che dal 2001 celebrano le eccellenze afroamericane nel campo della musica, della recitazione, dello sport e di altri settori dell’intrattenimento.
Quest’anno a monopolizzare l’attenzione è stata un’incredibile Megan Thee Stallion che, eguagliando DaBaby, ottiene il maggior numero di nomination della serata. Tra tutte le categorie in cui gareggiava, la rapper ha portato a casa i premi come best artista hip hop femminile e il premio scelto dal pubblico come “Viewer’s Choice”. Megan, inoltre, vede trionfare anche il brano “WAP” della collega Cardi B, in cui lei presenzia come featuring. “WAP” si aggiudica il premio come miglior collaborazione e quello per il miglior video dell’anno.
La leggenda del rap DMX, morto per un attacco di cuore all’inizio di quest’anno, è stata onorata alla cerimonia con uno speciale tributo di Busta Rhymes, Method Man, Swizz Beatz e Michael K. Williams, mentre sul palco si sono esibiti artisti come Andra Day, le City Girls, DJ Khaled, Jazmine Sullivan, Lil Nas X, Kirk Franklin e i Migos.
